The theme for this years Summer Reading program is "Oceans of Possibilities" as provided by Collaborative Summer Program. 

This year East Chicago Public Library will have a variety of events and programs happening as soon as the program kicks off June 6, 2022. 

The Adult Summer Reading program is for adults ages 18 and up.  At the time of registration, you will receive a small gift.  You will earn prizes after reading 10 hours, 30 hours and 60 hours.  The prizes do vary.   At 100 hours, your name is then entered into the drawing for the grand prize which is a Kindle Fire.  Don't stop at 100 hours though, keep reading to earn more chances to have your name put into the grand prize drawing.  Every additional 10 hours earns you having your name put into the drawing again which will up your chances of having your name drawn!

Summer Reading Kick Off Party       
Saturday June 11, 2022
1:00pm-4:00pm  at Main Library

Before the festivities begin, come and enjoy the Summer Movie Matinee, King Richard, beginning at 11:00 am. 
After the movie, enjoy an array of carnival games and food. Be sure to sign up for summer reading and receive a small gift!
 

Crochet and Knitting every Thursday at 11:00 am at Main Library
Come and enjoy some yarn therapy.  For those who are just starting to crochet or knight or for those with experience. 
Light refreshments will be served. 
 

Chair Yoga 10am Every Saturday at Main Library. 
Yoga improves balance and coordination, while bringing peace to both mind and body.  Beginning in August, a certified  yoga will guide you through safe and fun exercises that you can do in your chair.  The program is free and all are welcome to attend.  You do not need to bring a yoga mat to this program. 
 

Get Crafty 1:00pm at Pastrick Library 
June 13 - Wood Birdhouse
July 18 - Mini Pallet American Flag 

Come and enjoy making crafts. For beginners and those with more experience in crafting! 
 

Variety Hour 1:00pm at Main Library

During Variety hour you can relax while coloring or playing a lively round of cards! All material and games are provided. 
 

“It’s A Mystery” Book Club 5:00 pm at Pastrick Library 
June 27th - These Toxic Things by Rachel Howzell will be discussed and the book, Ice and Stone by Marcia Muller will be handed out. 
July 25th - Ice and Stone by Marcia Muller will be discussed and Left you Dead by Peter James will be handed out. 
 

Urban Book Club 11:00am at Main Library

We have started an Urban Book club for our patrons who love to read urban books! Come join us as we discuss some interesting titles!
 

Bingo for Adults 1:00 pm at Main Library

Adults can enjoy playing bingo and winning fun prizes (No Cash Prizes). Refreshments are served.

Become an artist in a couple of hours.  Join us for this fun, interactive art class and take home your very own masterpiece that you created! 
 

Wheel Of Fortune  1:00 pm at Main Library 
June 22nd

Adults are invited to come play Wheel of Fortune and win cool prizes. Light refreshments will be served. 
 

DIY Cleaning Products   June 29 1:00 pm at Main Library 
Come learn how to make a couple of your own cleaning products. 
 

DIY T-Shirt Book Bags    July 27   1:00 pm  at   Main Library
Come learn how to make a book bag using a T-Shirt. Please bring a T-shirt with you to the class. 
 

Family Cinema  5:00 pm
Popcorn and lemonade will be served.  Participants that stay until the end of the movie will be eligible to win the Door Prize!

Come enjoy pizza and ice cream at our end of summer reading party! It is all about celebrating YOU for reading throughout the summer.
